Furry Friday – Mirra

mirra 2There are many reasons I wanted to share Mirra as my adorable adoptable from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa today – she’s beautiful, big, and ready for love.  But, the most important reason, is that she is an example of the way the ARL can help dogs in desperate need. groom

Mirra was rescued, and then had to be groomed – a 2.5 hour ordeal – due to neglect.  You can see the before and after here.  It’s a reminder that pets are a commitment, not “get and forget.”  I know you know that because you are here thinking about adopting a new baby!

Since Mirra is currently shaved, I have included a stock picture to show you how furry she will be, once her fur is grown out and she is properly groomed on a regular basis. newfie

So, here’s the information about Mirra from the ARL:

BIG FAN OF: Running and playing.

NOT A FAN OF: Fireworks.

SPECIAL FEATURES: Mirra may be a bit shy at first, but once she is comfortable, she is an extremely sweet dog. She loves being petted and scratched and enjoys giving soft, slobbery kisses. She has lived with children, dogs and other cats and has done well with all of them. She walks nicely on a leash.

OTHER REASONS SHE’S SPECIAL: Mirra came to us with lots of mats and is currently shaved,. Once her long double coat grows back, she’ll need regular brushing to keep her looking and feeling her best.

DREAM HOME: With a relaxed family who will give her plenty of time to settle in.

Please Adopt, Don’t Shop. -Kate
