Furry Friday – Magnificent Seven

Let’s ride!  I am a movie girl, I love all kinds.  But Westerns hold a special place in my heart.  I am not sure if that’s because I am an Iowa Girl and John Wayne was born here, or because I watched more Westerns than I can count growing up.  My Dad loved anything with a horse and a hat.  I loved James Garner as Maverick.  (He’s like an uncle after all. 🙂 )  But I also loved The Duke, John Ford, and yes, the Western version of “The Magnificent Seven” – I mean, Steve McQueen! (sigh)

zachSo, as soon as I heard one of my favorite directors, Antoine Fuqua, was updating “The Magnificent Seven” I was in.  The very idea of Academy Award winner Denzel Washington on a horse made me giddy.  Add in my current crush Chris Pratt (sigh) and there is nothing but win for me.  (BTW – Reviews say that Western fans will be quite satisfied.)

What all of this is leading to is…. My adorable adoptable from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa this week is Zach – he is a 13-year old Mustang you can adopt!  And, not at all coincidentally, he looks a whole lot like Denzel’s horse in #Mag7.  The horse he rode for nearly a year to train and film, and who he came to really love.  Are you looking for love and a great bond?  If you have space, a horse is an amazing choice.

No horse for me (the city would frown on it), so instead I am going to live vicariously through “The Magnificent Seven” – I am going tonight.  For you, here’s more information on Zach from the ARL:

zach-2Zach is a beautiful mustang who is about 14.2 hands. He tends to be watchful, but he is very sweet once you approach him. Zach has not been under saddle as far as we know. He is a really good boy and will be a great project for an experienced horse owner or trainer. He has heaves, so you’ll have to be careful about how much you work him.

Zach is available for adoption or foster and can be seen by appointment. He has been wormed and vaccinated, and his feet have been done. To meet him or learn more about him, please contact rescueranch@arl-iowa.org or (515) 473-9112.

Please Adopt, Don’t Shop. -Kate
