This month, join Joseph Giunta and the Orchestra at the Civic Center, April 18-19, to experience Hope – Copland & Gershwin, where iconic American voices come together in one unforgettable Des Moines Symphony program.
Copland’s Shaker-inspired Appalachian Spring opens the concert, followed by a musical tribute to Des Moines’ Pappajohn Sculpture Park in Steve Heitzeg’s Symphony In Sculpture. Margaret Bonds’ Montgomery Variations reflects the spirit of the Civil Rights Movement, and Gershwin’s An American in Paris brings the concert to a vibrant close.
