The Leprechaun Chase

The Leprechaun Chase 10k is a St. Paddy’s Day run with a twist, where ladies get a head start and the guys chase them. First person to cross the finish line wins a free drink for their gender, lads or lasses, at the Green Beer After Party. This is the one event of the year where you can run a PR while wearing your favorite Irish gear, drink a few adult beverages, get really weird and fit right in! So go ahead, pull up your striped green socks, wear a silly hat, bust out your finest argyle, dye your side burns orange and slap on a ridiculous bow tie. Just don’t forget to bring a healthy dose of Irish swagger.  With any luck, you might just take home the coveted “Best Dressed” Lad or Lass award or take home a Pint Glass Award for Top 3 in your age group. Start and end in Downtown Des Moines on a flat and fast course, dash over Grays Lake, high five a bagpiper and strut across the finish line to the Green Beer Block Party at the El Bait Shop.
