4th of July Fireworks and Events


July 3rd Events

  • Ames: Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Reiman Gardens.
  • Des Moines: Fireworks after the Iowa Cubs game at Principal Park.
  • Des Moines: Des Moines Symphony’s 21st Annual Yankee Doodle Pops at the Iowa State Capitol – 6:30 p.m. Jazz in July; Symphony with fireworks at 8:30 p.m.
  • Roland: Fireworks at dusk south of the water tower. Rain makeup is July 5.
  • West Des Moines: Independence Parade from Valley High School to Valley Junction. Live music, food and fun for the entire family in Valley Junction from 5-11 p.m.

July 4th Events

  • Ames: 3-day festival to celebrate Ames 150th Birthday
  • Altoona: Adventureland will have fireworks for park guests at approximately 9:45 p.m.
  • Boone: Fireworks at the Boone Speedway at dusk.
  • Carlisle: Parade at 9:30 a.m.; Day full of family fun and live music 10 a.m-11 p.m.; Fireworks at 10 pm at North Park.
  • Chariton: Fireworks at dusk at Northwest Park.
  • Des Moines: Rendezvous on Riverview live music and then fireworks at 9:30 p.m. – corner of 6th and Boston in Des Moines.
  • Living History Farms: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Enjoy an old-fashioned Fourth with a historic Independence Day for the whole family. Historic baseball game at 2:30 p.m.
  • Milo: Fireworks at dusk at Centennial Park.
  • Newton: Parade at 9:30 a.m.; 11:00 AM-1:30 PM – Family festival and live music around the Courthouse Square; Fireworks at dusk.
  • Nevada: Parade at 10 a.m.; Fireworks at dusk.
  • Norwalk: Parade at 10 a.m.; Fireworks at dusk.
  • Osceola: Fun run 7 a.m.; Parade 11 a.m.; Festival throughout the day; Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
  • Oskaloosa: Fireworks at 10 p.m. at Southern Iowa Fairgrounds.
  • Pella: Parade at 9 a.m.; Festival all day; Fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
  • Perry: Fireworks at 10 p.m. in the Pattee Park.
  • Pleasantville: Parade at 11 a.m.; Fireworks at dusk at Shadle Park.
  • Slater: Parade at 10 a.m.; Slater’s 125th Anniversary all day; Fireworks at 10 p.m.
  • Urbandale: Events Wednesday through Friday. Parade on the 4th at 10 a.m.; Fireworks at 10 p.m. at Walker Johnston Park.
  • Waukee: A day-long celebration. Parade at 2 p.m.; Fireworks at dusk at Centennial Park.
  • West Des Moines: Fireworks at 9:45 p.m. at Raccoon River Park.
  • Windsor Heights: Events all day long. Parade at 1 p.m.; Fireworks at 10 p.m. at Colby Park.

July 5th Events

  • Altoona: Adventureland will have fireworks for park guests at approximately 9:45 p.m.
  • Fort Dodge: Fireworks at dusk at Fort Frenzy.
  • Grimes: Fireworks at 10 p.m.
